A lot has happened in Five Minute Friday world too. We no longer link up at Lisa-Jo's site for this. Instead, a friend of hers took over and has been doing a great job keeping it going. While I haven't participated by writing, but I have participated by reading and it has been wonderful to read the words of other like-minded women! :) We now meet over at Kate's blog to join together in our writing for 5 minutes. She has dolled out some challenging writing prompts so far! I'm glad I participated today!
Today, prose wasn't going to work. I had a hard week and today I was feeling quite blue again. Writing helped but I knew it would be poetry. Here's my five minutes of writing on the word prompt whisper.
START
They demand our silence,
we’re lucky if we can manage a whisper.
But I don’t want to whisper,
I
WANT TO ROAR!!
“Freedom of Speech”!! they spout,
when
it matters to them.
But as soon as your opinion differs,
you’re not granted that freedom.
Instead,
you’re
accused of hate,
of
phobia (phobia?! I have nothing to fear!),
of
intolerance.
BE TOLERANT OF EVEYRONE AND EVERYTHING!
they shout.
But they aren’t tolerant of you or your
thoughts and beliefs
when
you choose to express them.
What they really mean is
“You must accept and embrace the choices I make!”
…
choices that are so profoundly against God and His Word?!
How can I accept and embrace that?! How can
I not speak out against it?!
I don’t want to whisper anymore.
I
WANT TO ROAR!!
STOP
This clearly communicates the passion you feel. I like the use of different font sizes and your creativity. Stopping by with Five Minute Friday. Blessings!
